The 32nd Annual #StampOutHunger Food Drive is only ONE week away! "The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive comes at an important time for our country's school children and their families," says Postmaster General of the USPS, Louis DeJoy. "Holding the collection in spring enables communities to provide timely assistance to millions who face a gap when school lunch programs are not available during the summer months." Leave your non-perishable #fooddonations by your mailbox the morning of May 11 - local letter carriers will collect the food on their normal route, and all of the food gathered in Arlington County will be donated to AFAC! Together, we can meet our goal of collecting 15,000 pounds of food for AFAC’s families! #afacfeeds #fooddrive #volunteer4afac

#CheerstoVolunteers! This April was extra special as we celebrated National #VolunteerAppreciationWeek to show our gratitude for the over 2,000 individuals who donate their time to AFAC throughout the year. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization and allow us to provide essential services to the more than 3,700 families in need coming to our doors weekly. We were happy to be able to provide our volunteers with some treats and prizes throughout the week to show our thanks. #volunteer4afac #afacfeeds

Happy National #VolunteerAppreciationWeek from AFAC! We are always grateful for our dedicated band of volunteers who collectively donate more than 45,000 hours to AFAC every year, but we wanted to celebrate them with some extra special treats this week. Thank you to Starbucks for donating baked goods and warm coffee for our volunteers to enjoy, as well as to the following for providing us with awesome prizes for our Volunteer Raffle: Signature Theatre, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C., Erin T. for her homemade preserves, and local author Madelyn Rosenberg for donating a collection of books. Additionally, several staff members (and some VIPs) enjoyed snacks and libations at Cornerstone, a new eatery on Columbia Pike. Its owner is long-time #volunteer Kathryn McAbee. We all give it two thumbs up. #afacfeeds #volunteer4afac

#HappyEarthDay! At AFAC, we ask that our clients bring their own reusable bags when they shop rather than using plastic grocery bags. However, sometimes those reusable bags can be in rough shape. If you have bags that are in good condition (recently laundered, no rips, clean) and are the right size for groceries (no lunch bags, backpacks, or wine totes), we'd welcome them at AFAC. Help us do our part to reduce plastic waste this Earth Day and please refrain from donating disposable plastic bags! You can drop them off during our regular food drive donation hours (8:30-4:30 M-F and 9:00-1:00 on Saturday). #afacfeeds #volunteer4afac #fooddrive
