Thank you for letting us be a part of this amazing Earth Day experience, Langston Boulevard Alliance! 🌎
The numbers are in! We have so many organizations and people to thank. We will try to keep it brief. However, it will be difficult. This year's Earth Day Festival was a success because of the nearly 100 community partners and organizations involved. We are so grateful to have had the pleasure to work beside each of them! Our activities center was packed full of engaging, family friendly games, scavenger hunts, art projects, face painting and more thanks to the hard work of the teams over at: Encore Stage & Studio, The Waverly Hills Civic Association, Arlington Public Library's Library truck, Long Branch Nature Ctr, The Arlington Art Truck, Arlington Artists Alliance King of Pops, and Sing Songs with Emily. Arlington Councilwoman Susan Cunningham and Sierra Club Executive Director Ben Jealous were kind enough to warm up the mic for our musical guests. Big thank you to the nonprofit and private community partners like BikeArlington, EcoAction Arlington Master Gardeners of NOVA, Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture Small Trees make Large Canopies, Sierra Club, Solar United Neighbors, Linda's Lab, Wildbirds Unlimited 80 Acres Farms, Save Soil for generously provided us with eco friendly programming and community resources. Arlington County Government came in strong to support the Earth Day efforts in Arlington with programming from Stormwater, Vision Zero, Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE), Arlington Community Housing and Development and the Arlington Solid Water Bureau. This year’s raffle items were generously furnished by Langston staples- Metro 29 Diner, Limoncello Boutique and Compass Coffee. Let’s not forget the 35+ local artists, artisans and salespeople who offered us their expert craftsmanship and ecofriendly products. Please check out the event’s webpage to find more information about each of these local small businesses. Many of these vendors have brick and mortar shops and/or online sales opportunities. https://lnkd.in/eQ49hgvS None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors. This year's Earth Day Every Day Festival was brought to you by: Virginia Housing, Arlington Arts, Amazon, Artis Senior Living, Little Ambassadors' Academy, Kensington Senior Living, Arlington Community Federal Credit Union, Lyon Village Shopping Center, Long & Foster Companies, Dweck Properties, Venable LLP, Washington Gas, Rooney Properties, The Caruthers Cos., Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH), Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC), MTFA Architecture, Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh, Dominion Lighting - A Division of Border States, Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C., Metro 29 Diner, Restoration 1 and John Marshall Bank Finally, thank YOU, Arlington, for another great day on Langston! Give it up for our March Dweckster of the Month, Angela Hillegas! Angela’s tenure in property management had been well established before coming to Dweck, so we were fortunate to have her join us in 2019. Soon after joining as an Assistant Property Manager, she was promoted to Property Manager just last year, and took over a tough property that was in the midst of many challenges. She came into her new role and a new community with an open mind and tackled one hurdle at a time with patience and tenacity. She now leads one of the highest-performing properties in our portfolio! Angela leads with curiosity and kindness and she lives her truth. Her team has blossomed under her consistent and caring leadership, and the reviews reflect how much respect and admiration the residents have for her as well. Angela is a true example of "The joy of leadership comes from seeing others achieve more than they thought they were capable of." We are so proud of her leadership, (and so is her team—they love her and it shows!). Angela started her property management career in West Virginia. She feels it’s been a great career for her as a single mom, affording her both flexibility and opportunity. And, although work is important, her priority is and always be her son, Sam, who is just completing his first year in college. Angela loves the outdoors and has always been the mom who led camping trips for her son and his friends. Now that he’s grown, she’s gotten into “glamping,” as her version of camping. She enjoys spending time outside of work at her permanent site in southern Virginia by the water with her two dogs and her camping community. We are so proud and pleased to have Angela as a Dweckster, and applaud her accomplishments! #DwecksterOfTheMonth #EmployeeRecognition #Congratulations

This Earth Month 🌎, we embraced the spring weather and a chance to make a difference in our local environment. Our hardworking team members dove right in and weren't afraid to get their hands dirty! They removed invasive plants and cleaned up trash while enjoying Spring weather at Upton Hill Regional Park! We are so grateful for opportunities to help preserve our local communities. #DoWhatMatters #EarthMonth #CleanUpProject

Last Friday, our teams took the opportunity to enjoy Earth Month 🌎 while making a difference in our community. They joined the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's annual volunteer day in partnership with National Landing BID to support Melwood, a non-profit that provides jobs and opportunities for people with disabilities in the greater Washington, DC, area. Our team members spent the day planting indoor succulents while also sprucing up the Melwood facility. We are truly thankful for the opportunity to give back to the community and work with such amazing organizations. #DoWhatMatters #CommunityOutreach #EarthMonth
