This is a photo of an “elevator garage” taken in Chicago, 1936. It was part of a building that no longer exists on 33 W. Monroe Street and held up to 48 cars. Workers simply drove into the elevator car, parked in their sky-high slots, then walked along the fire escape to their offices.
